Located in the northwest section of Randolph County, Illinois, the city of Red Bud is just a short commute from metropolitan St. Louis and roughly six miles from the Kaskaskia River, a tributary of the Mississippi River and a main thoroughfare for both industry and recreation.
Three state highways - Illinois routes 3, 154 and 159 - converge at the city’s four way stop. Two airports - MidAmerica St. Louis Airport in Mascoutah, Ill., and St. Louis Lambert International Airport in St. Louis, Mo., - are less than an hour from the city center. Red Bud is entering a transformative phase with the continued development of the Red Bud Business Park — a major economic initiative designed to attract new businesses and strengthen the local job market.
Phase 1 of infrastructure development is now complete, delivering prime highway frontage and shovel-ready lots available for immediate sale and development. This milestone marks a significant step forward in positioning Red Bud as a competitive destination for business growth.
The Business Park will feature 17 fully serviced lots ranging from one to four acres, equipped with city-provided utilities including electric, water, sewer, and natural gas, along with access to high-speed fiber internet.
This strategic investment reflects the City’s commitment to creating a business-friendly environment and supporting long-term economic vitality.
In addition to the Business Park, the City of Red Bud also has several competitive Economic Development Incentive Programs for qualified applicants. Programs include:

Notice of Job Opening
The City of Red Bud will be accepting applications for a part-time meter reader in the Public Works Department. The rate of pay is currently $18.10 per hour. There shall be a maximum of 999 hours per year per employee. Applicants must be at least 18 years of age with a valid driver’s license and will be subject to pre-employment drug testing and physical. Applications can be picked up from and returned to Red Bud City Hall, 200 East Market Street, Red Bud, IL 62278 between the hours of 7:30 a.m. – 4:00 p.m., Monday – Friday or can be found on the city website at www.cityofredbud.org. Applications will be accepted until 4:00 p.m. on Friday May 15, 2026.

The Red Bud Chamber has a new app!
Designed to be a valuable resource for both residents and visitors, offering real-time information at your fingertips. Features include a comprehensive directory of Chamber of Commerce member businesses, up-to-date community event listings, direct links to city resources, and much more.
The upcoming Community Yard Sale on May 9 is already featured in the app. Users can browse participating locations, see what each has to offer, and create a personalized route that syncs directly with their phone’s GPS. This feature will also be especially useful for popular events like Witches Night Out, the Chocolate Walk, and the Christmas Walk.
